The oldest Kiwanis sponsored-youth program is Key Club. Seventeen
boys in Sacramento, California, made up the first Key Club in 1925, and
today the organization is active in 20 nations and includes 4,711 clubs
and 234,528 members. More than 2 million youth have enlisted in Key Club
since its inception, including many who are now top government and
business leaders.
Although Key Club is sponsored by the Kiwanis
organization, the group is self-governing. The group elects its own
officers, determines its own service activities, and establishes its own
structure. The vision of Key Club International is to develop competent,
capable and caring leaders through the vehicle of service. We
traditionally support the following service projects: UNICEF, Christmas
for Teens, American Red Cross, Community Thanksgiving Baskets, Iodine
Deficiency Disorder, Camp Sunshine, and Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma
Institute.
Key Club meets every Tuesday that school is session. Meeting
time is 2:15-3 p.m. The
Key Club advisor is Joe Cummings. |
